Does anyone know how accurate the free capital one credit score tracker is? It's offered free, and claims it's based off info from Transunion.
The information is taken from TU but the score is not a FICO score. It's called a TU New Account Model and this is what Cap 1 says about it: Credit Tracker provides an educational score.
It says my score is 775. Not exactly accurate.
From what I can tell... it's just Credit Karma's TU FAKO.

It is based off of your transunion report. Using their utter complete useless scoring model. Fako. Useless. Mine is always 60 points higher than my fico. I know why now. I have 1 negative. A paid collection 4 years old. Their fako overlooks it since it is paid. Hence higher score. Fico does not give a damn it's paid. Hit in credit regardless. Hence lower score. It's simple. Dont trust the fako.

Yep, it's exactly the same as credit karma's FAKO score, virtually useless for scoring purposes, but good for keeping track of activity.
CK / Cap one fako score also doesn't take into account closed accounts that are still reporting on your credit report also.

both CK/Cap1 are on average 30 points lower than my TU FICO score..... so I'd say they're worthless for anything other than tracking activity

CK is good for what it is, an very good free tu monitoring service.
I've always wondered: If Capital One provides a FAKO credit score monitoring service for their account holders, is that the same scoring model they use to determine account eligibility? Or do they still use Fico to determine eligibility when applying for new credit with them and/or CLI?

i would say it probably isn't since cap one is known to triple pull, so they take an look at all 3 credit reports, their fako score is only TU
