Charge off...

I have a charge off from HSBC in the amount of $2988.  This date DOFD-09/04.  The SOL in SC is 3 years.  I am ready to purchase a home, but know this will be hindrance. Should I PFD?  I know it does not make sense to GW an account with a charge off.  Would likely be a waste of time.

Let me know your thoughts on how to handle this one...

Re: Charge off...

HSBC is a tough cookie. I don't know anyone that got them to PFD when still within SOL. BUT wait for someone else to answer.

If you dispute or PFD  they can still refused & file suit.

Re: Charge off...

Looks like it should be past SOL to me-

I would try a PFD ONLY after you are SURE the SOL is over.

What section of HSBC is this?

Re: Charge off...

This is a charge off on a car loan.  The jeep was totally in a auto accident.  There was a balance after the insurance company paid out - depreciation value.

Certain the SOL has expired.

Thanks for your help...

Re: Charge off...

Like Timothy said, I would PFD only. Especially since you are certain it is past SOL.

Re: Charge off...

So do I offer the entire balance or a partial?
