Closing accounts with CCCS

I am considering working with CCCS to manage my $70k in CC's. One requirement is to close all accounts. That will be a huge hit on util, but I think I have no choice. My current fico is between 650 and 680 and all of my accounts in my CR are in good standing with no late payments. So, since I am resigned to the fact of closing all accounts and taking the fico hit, is it better for "me" to close them, as oppossed to the "grantor" closing them once they know I'm working with CCCS? Does it make a difference to fico "who" closes them?

Re: Closing accounts with CCCS

FICO does not care who closes them. Just make sure they don't report as "settled".

Sometimes you've gotta do whatever it takes to prevent further damage. Good luck.
