Does a transaction dispute affect one's credit score? Not a dispute for a late payment or the like, a dispute for a charge I did not make but was billed for. While they are investigating do they file the dispute with the CRA's or is it an internal thing?
The standard credti reporting manual used by each of the Big-3, called the "Credit Reporting Resource Guide" ((c) CDIA), provides for reporting of both disputes under the FCRA and the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA).
FCBA disputes over billing issues on revolving accounts are thus reportable disputes.
FICO removes certain OC account information from scoring duirng a pending dispute.

It's normal for a dispute of a credit card transaction to show as a 'dispute' on your credit reports since the law states that you are not required to pay any amount that is being disputed until the dispute is resolved. (It's notable that you are still required to pay any amount due that is not disputed).
Once the dispute is complete, the remark should be removed from your credit reports. If it is not, you can 'dispute' the dispute.
Hope this helps.
