I graduated DMP in November. about 3 years ago, BofA found out that I got a Sams card while I was in DMP and quitely droped me from the program. They did not contact me or the DMP company and they raised my minimum payment. As a result of this I have a big black mark on my credit report of being 90+ days on my BofA account.
This is the only resaon my scores are not in the high 700's or over 800.
I also didnt put all my CCs into the DMP and left out a vintage 1984 Chevron card and CompUSA card which is the only reason my credit scores arent lower then they are. The good news is that despite BofA, I was able to get new credit and in a few months my scores should be over 760 which hopefully will get me to my goal of being a "well qualified buyer" from a new car. I called BofA a qwhile back to see if they would remove the lates and I got a very smug "We can't leaglly do that" response. I havent sent them a GW letter and I will only do so if it affects my ability to get a new car loan.
In 4 more years, the info will fall off my CR. I can wait. I vowed that I would never use any BofA product again. I hope they are stupid enough to send my a pre-approval letter one day and I will return it to them - after adding some of the results of my dialy "purging" ritual. Yes I can be childish and no I wont really do it but I like thinking about it.
The botom line is that if you have any BofA product in DMP, do not seek new credit otherwise they will drop you from the program. learn from my mistake.
Citibank, Wells Fargo, HSBC, and Providian (WaMu) didnt care about the new credit.
