Date Assigned vs Date Reported vs Date Last Active - From which 7 years should pass?

I have few questions about 7 years "law", my credit report lists about 3-6 collections (depending on Credit Reporting Agency) and I was wondering from which date 7 years rule starts to count?

Like in first example below, last active is on April 01, 2002 but last reported on Jun 01 2007. I have never ever talked to them or
got in contact with them even back in 2002, so its not like I'm in touch with them and they put "Last reported".

If 7 years counts from Last Reported then how can it ever pass, because they'd just keep 'reporting' it once a year and it'll be on my report forever?

I'm thinking maybe it's worth for me to wait out until April 01 2009 and have it automatically drop rather then start sending them letters for PFD, so they'd refuse and put some other crap on my report, etc. Any opinions?

First example:
=========================================================
Date assigned [?] Dec 01, 2004
Date reported [?] Jun 01, 2007
Date last active [?] Apr 01, 2002

Second:
========================================================
Original balance [?] $199
Current balance
(as of Jun 03,2007) [?] $199

Status (as of Mar 01, 2005) [?]
Account seriously past due date/account assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department

Date assigned [?] Dec 23, 2004

-----------------------
In second example 7 year count starts from date assigned or date of 'status'?

Thanks sooo much for helping me understand!!!
