Strange thing is I can't recall using my debit card online, I use my Amex because I know they are tough on fraud and I earn reward points. It's obvious someone bought my check-card info somehow. I just hope that's all they have. I placed a 90-Day FA on all reports and notifed all of my creditors of what happened and they agreed to step-it-up and created additional security questions, passwords and so forth.

I second that--NEVER use a debit card for just about anything--especially online. If a company goes under whom you purchased goods from with a debit card you may never see that money again. If you used a credit card it's as simple as calling them up and telling them you never made the purchase. I've had this happen to me several times--and a credit card has saved my A$$.
Make it a habit--stop using debit cards.
Use cash, Use credit, but don't use debit.
I'm glad this was a happy ending, I love happy endings.

Fused, I forget to say that he STILL uses the debit card a lot - but pays MUCH MUCH closer attention to his bank account now. He never knew he was missing $160 until August when the bank found it, not him.The Merchant was very helpful (ah, if my DH took those drugs he would croak) and they were not scripted by any of his docs...He was as rip roaring mad as you (try a 2star Marine General on a "I'm gonna get this resolved mission") - but realized that the system does work when you are in the right.

I cancelled the card, disputed it with the bank, made a police report and I am in the process of placing freezes on my CRs. And here I thought my bank was somehow involved. I hope this ends now!
