Duplicate Accounts

My score just dropped 5 points because of $194 added to a credit card intended to increase my score through "pays on time". The kicker is two reports for the same amount on the same account. What could be the cause of a duplicate? And should I stop using the card because its only hurting, not helping. Will I lose 5 points every time I use it?

Re: Duplicate Accounts

Are you basing this off a ScoreWatch alert?

Re: Duplicate Accounts

It's a settings issue as opposed to two of the same account reporting. Go into SW and go into Settings. You'll have the option to be alerted for a balance increase of $x, and another option to be alerted for a balance increase of x%. By default, both of those are set for "Y" for yes. To eliminate the extra alert, set one of those to "N" for No and the double alerts will stop on balance increases.

Re: Duplicate Accounts

That explains it. Thanks. I'm still inclined to stop using my card even for modest charges to try and build credit.
