Equifax fico score went from 599 to 629 in one day

I just received an alert that my fico score increased from 599 to 629 overnight (I use the myfico score watch)

The only changes I've had are that I closed my  Bon Ton and LinenSource credit cards last week (I only had them for 2 months, never used them and didn't want too many new credit cards racking up on my credit reports in a short period of time)

30 point hike just from closing the cards? Or could it have been something else?

Closing cards doesn't take them off your report, and doesn't immediately affect AAoA.  Closing cards can affect utilization for the worse.

In terms of things that can yank scores around in the short term, the big one that comes to mind is updated balances reporting and changing utilization.

My scorewatch alert sent me from 580 to 624 today. The alert was from just paying down my Old Navy card which has a $200 limit from a $39 balance to $0. Small price to pay for such a score hike...congrats to you on your increase as well!
