Fax dispute cover letter

Anyone have an example of the cover letter they include with their faxed disputes. I need to forward some deletion letters from CA's and creditors to the big 3 bureaus.

Also, if anyone has the fax numbers it would be appreciated.

The letter should be fine and include all the information they need.

Re: Fax dispute cover letter

They don't need your DOB, but they will need your SSN.  Do any of the letters you're sending have it on there?

Re: Fax dispute cover letter

The letters only show my name, mailing address, and account number reference.

Re: Fax dispute cover letter

Does anyone know how the data in these faxes are protected?

Meaning, you fax something with your social security # in it.  Just how secure is that?

I assume it is not a paper fax on the other end (one would need alot of trees if they were Smiley Wink

I know this practice is considered expediant, but is it truly secure?  Granted that mailing this stuff would be even less secure.... but I was curious as to the precautions used by these large companies with a fax vs online disputes.

Re: Fax dispute cover letter

The CRAs have PDFs on their website (for disputes via postal mail) that you can print, fill out, and fax to them. That way you can be sure to include all of the information they require and attach your letter with it.

Re: Fax dispute cover letter

Faxes to a major company is more secure than Email-

(email is really very insecure)

A Fax on a POTS (plain old telephone line) can easily be intercepted in route.

Major companies (more and more mid and small companies) use digial lines such as T1 and the data would need to be intercepted on the sending side.

Then again- How secure in US  mail?
The only thing that makes USmail secure is the easy prosication of mail fraud.
