Actually, that's NOT such a silly question. Everything on your credit report is fair game for a "goodwill letter"... if, and I say IF, you can find the right person to send it to.
And I'd start with the court that is reporting the BK. Go visit the judge or court clerk personally and try to have a one-on-one meeting with them. Explain your situation, outline it in writing, and see what happens. If the BK is old enough or if you can perhaps illustrate some problems with the original filing, you never know.
