History & Scoring

My TU and Ex scores are in the 700s, but my EQ score is 689. I think I know why after reviewing my credit reports over and over again. Both TU and EX show 17 years of history where the EQ only shows 9 years. I think I even know which card it is, now the question is, how do I get EQ to report something older than 7 years old so I can get my 17 years of history back???  Thought anyting over 7 years disappears off of your credit - so how is anyone supposed to get a long credit history. I know of a card that I had in 1985 and no one is reporting it - I am not using it - but it should be part of my credit history!! Frustrating!

Re: History & Scoring

As long as the account is open, it will reamin on your CR.  Negative info will go away in 7 years but good information on an account can stay on for 10 years.  If the account from 85 was closed, then it just probably dropped off 10 years after it closed.

It also may be possbile that your EQ file "split".  I have seen posts about this here before but I dont have any experience with it myself.  I would call the EQ poeple to have them verify your credit report ASP.

Re: History & Scoring

Well, I closed the 1985 account just a couple years ago, the BoA account was closed in 1999. This BoA account was opened in 1990 and it is still reporting to two of the agencies. Sears is reporting to no one. both of these acccounts are closed, but Sears is the newest closure. So I talk to the Credit reporting agencies?

Re: History & Scoring

Yes to verify the your CR is okay (not split).  If it is okay, I dont think you can do anything to get the info back on your report.

Re: History & Scoring

How do I make sure they don't continue taking stuff off - I want that history!

Re: History & Scoring

I just called Sears - I opened with them in 1985 and closed in 2/2003. big mistake now I know, but I called them and asked if they would continue reporting the card for the history's sake. How long do they have to report - it has been 5 years since the account was closed - but I need the history....

Re: History & Scoring

By the way, Sears stated they would put in something to all 3 credit bureaus to try and get them to report the card for me... :-) Not sure how long they will be able to report and how things "fall off"
