I changed my address recently and went online and updated the addresses with the few credit cards I have. I want to apply for a new card but need to wait for the new address to appear on the reports for fear the application will be declined if the address I use to apply doesnt match the reports.
Will the banks update my reports or do I need to notify Experian, TU and EQ directlty?
I did get an alert from Myfico that a new address was detected on my Experian, but when I log into Experian fdirectly the old address is still showing up
you actually "dispute" the personal info on your reports with the credit reporting agencies.
it's pretty quick and you may need to send in a photocopy of DL with current addy.
I just moved and went through this.
I updated my addresses with my CCCs. Once the statement posted, the bureaus updated the address. Luckily, for me, my statements posted just a few days after I changed the address so it was super quick. No need to alert the bureaus, but you certainly can via dispute if you'd like to speed up the process if you still have a few weeks before your statements post.

But what about the masses out there who never look at their own reports? How do their addresses get updated?
it will eventually get tacked on the list of (usually many) addresses on their reports. it's simple and free (free reports too)

The creditors will update. How long depends on when your accounts report.
