How long do I need credit before my address will be verified?

I've had one Capital One card for seven months now, which should be enough to generate a report with three major bureaus. However, when applying for other cards, I'm still asked to verify my address--isn't it supposed to be on my credit report? Part of the confusion is that I receive mail at a PO Box address, and I think Capital One might be reporting the PO Box address. (For example, I need to use my PO box ZIP code for verifying the card, not my street address ZIP code.) How many trade lines will I need/for how long before this becomes more reliable? It's mainly frustrating because verification is complicated for me (I live in a dorm, so no signed lease, utilities or mortgage) and I've been unable to get my free credit reports online. When I tried to get my Experian report, there was one question about my phone number, and two questions about people I've lived with, but I'd never lived with any of them. I even called Experian and had the automated system tell me I would get a report, but I never received anything.

You don't need 7 months for a report.  You need at least 6 months of recent activity for a score.

Pull your own reports directly from the CRA's and verify what is being reported.  It's not simply a matter of number of tradelines but what data creditors are reporting for you.

Unfortunately you'd have to call the CRA's to get this sorted out.  You need to reach an actual person to look into this.
