I've had one Capital One card for seven months now, which should be enough to generate a report with three major bureaus.
You don't need 7 months for a report. You need at least 6 months of recent activity for a score.

How many trade lines will I need/for how long before this becomes more reliable?
Pull your own reports directly from the CRA's and verify what is being reported. It's not simply a matter of number of tradelines but what data creditors are reporting for you.

It's mainly frustrating because verification is complicated for me (I live in a dorm, so no signed lease, utilities or mortgage) and I've been unable to get my free credit reports online. When I tried to get my Experian report, there was one question about my phone number, and two questions about people I've lived with, but I'd never lived with any of them. I even called Experian and had the automated system tell me I would get a report, but I never received anything.
Unfortunately you'd have to call the CRA's to get this sorted out. You need to reach an actual person to look into this.
