How long for it to come off?

I have one negative thing on my credit report: A car loan with Suntrust bank. It was opened in 1997 and paid in full/closed in 2003. It shows 60 days late close to when I closed. (2003) I realise that negs can stay on your report up to 10 years? Is that from when it was closed. i have tried before to have it removed, should I try again ?

Rachel.

Those negs will stay on for 7-7.5 years from the delinquency.

Re: How long for it to come off?

You need to be careful about asking (in a GW) to have lates deleted on a closed account. It is easier for them to delete the complete account!

Lates should drop 7 years from the late pay. All good accounts stay on your CR 10 years from the closed date.

So  the lates should drop in the month that they accured in 2010  and the account should remain until 2013
