How long until things show up on credit report?

I had a charge off from 2008 on my credit report but they were still reporting that the credit card was opened. So they now have it on there as offically closed. How long will it take to show up on my credit report as closed? It has been hurting my credit because it has been showing that I'm over my credit limit $400.

Depends on the lender but for me things like account closures were usually reported on the next (and final in my cases) statement date.

I am not sure what is expected to change in scoring based on closure of the account.

If the account is still reporting the CL and a balance, it will still count in your % util even though closed.

It will continue to hurt.  Being marked as closed won't help.
