My BF bought a new car in October 2007 and used Wachovia as the new lender.We just pulled his myFICO reports today and discovered that GMAC (previous lender) put a neg. on all three credit reports claiming that he paid late in October.
How should he dispute?I’m thinking this is a mistake that occurred when the financing was transferred.Looks like a big negative since its so recent and it’s not true.
The old car (financed by GMAC) was used as a trade in.
I take it that Wachovia or the dealer one was supposed to pay off the remaining balance on the trade in and apparently the paper work didn't get done in time and payment was late.
I'd call GMAC and explain to them why the payment was late. Did he have other lates with them? If not, may be able to use that fact to persuade them to remove........
Or you can send GW letter........whichever is better for you.
