What should I do?
I sent a collection agency a letter disputing the information on my credit report....instead of them sending me a letter back in regards to the dispute they sent a letter back offering me to pay 50% of the balance to settle the account. Why didnt they answer the dispute? I called the original creditor and they have nothing on file for me so technically the account isn't mines, correct? The collections agency says the reason they have nothing on file is because they sold the account to them. However I thought that they (Original creditor) would still have something on file for me to prove the account is mines.
I have disputed with the credit bureaus but the collections agency reported back that the account was mines. How do they verify if the original creditor no longer has the account or shows anything for me?
What do I do? It took my score down 10 points...I am so frustrated by this!
