I implemented a dispute with EQ and my score went down 7 points

Has anyone score every dropped by creating a VALID dispute?

There are some things FICO will not calculate while a TL is in dispute. Does that mean you should dispute in hopes of increasing your score? NO! This could easily backfire.

Collections and public records do not apply and are never exempt while in dispute. Smiley Happy

What if what you are disputing is hurting your score in the first place.  Wouldn't having these things removed improve the score?

I am disputing 8 problems with equifax through "my fico" dispute letter system.  I know I read somewhere not to put your signature on letter.  Do you know about this?  Has anyone used the  "my fico" letters of dispute?  They are my lowest score and  don't want it any lower. Thanks

Yes.   With Equifax I disputed a fraudulent Citibank account that was opened and closed three years ago with a balance.  The same day my dispute was noted in ScoreWatch, my score went from 736 to 683.  Sigh....

Yikes.

One score went up a few months after Transunion removed an incorrect
balance on something closed 5 years ago.

HOWEVER, this quarter, my score went down from 713 to 701
supposedly because, as myfico says, I have Zero balances on
all my credit accounts. I always pay off now and don't like
balances. The recommendation was that I use my accounts.

But I do use them. I just pay them off before they're shown
on the next billing.

BAD, apparently!
