Thanks for responding. There is a lien on the vehicle. I shopped around. Some places wanted more. I used to pay over $1000 a month. This is almost my second year..... :-(
I used to haev GEICo. They dropped me. Then I had MAIF. Now I have Progressive. I will continue to search for cheaper insurance. Somone once mentioned AAA. Thnks for your post!

I didn't even know it was legal to charge that much for auto insurance. Do you have a lien on the vehicle, or are you able to carry just liability insurance? Have you shopped around getting quotes from other companies?Yep. My daughters boyfriend was paying 138 every 6 months. He got one too many tickets and it went to right around 1000 a month.
Do you have access to USAA? Any body can join but I think you need to be affiliated with the military to get insurance.
Theirs, by far, have been the cheapest of all for my family.
Both of my grandfathers are veterans and i may have proof for one. They both are deceased. Can i stil join USAA?

That's weird, but I've heard others say it. USAA quoted me higher than anyone else. This was only for car ins and I have no other ins or affilation with them currently.
I have had GEICO and Progressive. Both were double what USAA was. But like anything else, YMMV.
You can call and ask if you are eligible based on your grandparents.
For that price you should probably buy a bike. The other option is public transportation. Another option, but you would be spending the same amount of money, is to take a taxi every day.
Direct General (not the general) insurance is CHEAP! I pay $50 a month and my brother pays $90 for full coverage and he has had tickets and accidents and still pays on his truck. They don't do a credit check either.
