If a debt comes back as validated?

I have a few very large old baddies and would like to DV some of them, because I don't think a few of them are mine. Should I only DV them if I'll be able to pay them around 33-50% within a few weeks? Could I send them a PFD a month or two later if they can verify that I owe the debt?

I'm dying to know if they are really mine or not. I disputed one online the other day with EX and it came back as verified.

If they are past SOL and you can't be sued, then you're a bit more safe to send 'em out.  If not I'd be careful and DV them one at a time, only the ones you can afford to pay in full within a month or so (just in case they get feisty).  The Lonnster DV states that if the debt is validated YOU have 30 days to review the info they send you and get back to the CA,

Re: If a debt comes back as validated?

Yes, I only have one account that isn't SOL, which has just one month to go.

In regards to the baddie that is currently in SOL and that is definitely mine. I know they can go by the state that I lived in when I opened the card and also the state that I currently live in. Both of those states the SOL is three years. I lived in a state between the time that I opened the card and where I live now for about five years, which was also where I lived when the account started getting behind. Would they be able to go by that state's SOL too? If so, it's four years there so I'd have another year to wait.

If you want to DV a CA that is past SOL, you don't have to be too worried about being able to pay within a certain amount of time.

If it ISN"T past SOL when you DV, you might wake a sleeping dog. It may bring it to their attention that the debt is almost past SOL, so always be prepared to pay when you DV within SOL, just in case your validation letters are followed by a summons.

As for SOL and different states.............as for going by the state you lived in between time signing and time now.......I don't know..........however some states allow SOL to toll when you leave state. So you may never be out of SOL on that debt, unless you move back to the original state.
