Without getting into the details of why, I did receive a mailed copy of a summons in 2009 (mailed from a lawyer). I was never legally served. A couple of months later, I received another mailed copy (from the same lawyer) of a request for summary judgement, but with no clerk stamps on it, although it did have a case number. Then, I never heard anything else, including any further attempt to collect the debt. Now I have a judgement listed on my Trans Union credit report with the case number listed. The local court shows no such case number having ever existed. I disputed the information with Trans Union and so far, they are refusing to remove the information. I am just looking for some advice.
