It's supposed to only be there for 30-45 days, or the max duration of a dispute. However, IME, I've had dispute comments remain much, much longer. For example, I used to send GWs in my repair days. I had a redeemed repo with some lates that I sent a GW to monthly. That creditor kept adding a dispute comment after receiving each letter. They weren't supposed to do that, but each letter renewed the comment and it was perpetually ignored by FICO which I didn't mind at all.
