I already knew I was declined for a Discover card, but they sent me a notice in the mail anyways...
I looked at it and it says:
Type of credit score: L2C
Your credit score: 710
Key factors that affected your credit score were as follows: Insufficient credit experience, applicants identity cannot be verified.
Yet Experian and Transunion say I have a 0 score, Transunion reflects 11 inquiries, Experian reflects 1...
I know my credit history is thin, but I thought that meant my score was 0 until they gathered enough information... and also, my identity is brand new to credit that it hasn't been 'verified', if you will, yet.
I'm CONFUSED!
Can anyone enlighten me, please? I wasn't expecting to get a score for another 3-6 months...
L2C is a score model from TU for people with very thin or no credit history.
OK, so the score that they gave me is inaccurate for that reason?
The score is accurate, L2C is an alternate source. If your credit profile has not had at least 2 TLs open for a min of 6 mos, your score will not generate. There are others factors, as well but it sounds like you are new to credit with little or no TLs reporting for less than 6 mos.
Thank you Lexi! That makes perfect sense to me now.
