Need help with HSBC

HSBC and Portfolio Recovery Associates are both reporting to the CRA for the same account.  I recently DV'd Portfolio and they responded.  Last week I also sent a PFD letter to Portfolio.  Should I have sent one to HSBC since they are reporting too?  Or should I send one to HBSC and try to pay them.  They have a zero balance listed on my CR, but saying that it was sold to Portfolio.  I don't want to pay off Portfolio and still have HSBC reporting on my CR.

I would personally call HSBC and try to settle with them first - but it may be too late since you have already been in contact with the CA. Call HSBC and see if they will still take payment - if so, make sure they will report to the CA that they need to remove their entry.  That way, even if HSBC won't remove their late, you won't have it double reported by them and the CA.
