Never been a Sprint customer, but it showed up on my CR

I have never in my life been a Sprint customer, but a debt of $62 was just reported on December 2007 by Harvard Collections that states the debt started being late on November 2007. I called Sprint's fraud department last night and they could not find anything in their database when searching for my SSN, current or previous addresses. What do I need to do in order to get this removed from my CR? How long will it take? Will I definitely be able to get it removed?

Re: Never been a Sprint customer, but it showed up on my CR

Send a DV, CMRRR to the CA reporting.

Is it possible that you were a customer of a company that Sprint bought out at some time or merged with?

Isn't suprising that Sprint could not find anything on you, seems phone companies seem to delete the records from their computers once they sell the debt. I've personally ran into this with MCI- I have never had MCI- but a debt is being reported on my CR for them. And I know of a few other who have contacted telephone companies to be told they have no records.

Just send the standard DV letter found on this forum. If you've never heard from them, change the first line to something to the effect of " Upon a recent review of my personal credit report, I noticed your company is reporting a debt that you claim I owe." or something along those lines.

Re: Never been a Sprint customer, but it showed up on my CR

Were you a customer of Nextel?

I'm an ex Nextel employee (Sprint came through and laid me off 1.5 years ago). My sister is currently a Sprint employee. We're in the process of disputing a Sprint/Nextel charge on her CR - you'd think it would be easier being an employee. Just a warning - they're heartless!!

I miss Nextel.

Re: Never been a Sprint customer, but it showed up on my CR

No, I've never been a customer of Nextel. I've had a cell phone on my parents family plan with Verizon for two years and haven't had my name on a cell phone bill since '98 or '99, which was with Suncom so it's possible it may be with them. If that's the case it's older than 7 years so WHY ARE THEY REPORTING IT AS BEING LATE AS OF NOV 2007???? CAs are the scum of the earth!!!!

Re: Never been a Sprint customer, but it showed up on my CR

Harvard purchased a book of Sprint stuff and literally started spamming people's reports at the end of last year. They do not respond to DV's and I am currently working with a lawyer to get them to either validate or remove. They will verify with CRA's but won't send you a thing. They do not send any notifications or bills, just pops up on your report and they wait for you to call and pay them. Not this little gray duck...

Re: Never been a Sprint customer, but it showed up on my CR

I just noticed this and was wondering if I should just send a request to the CRAs to ask them to delete this or follow through with the DV first. It's showing the account was opened 11/15/2007 and that it was reported on 12/19/2007, how can an account go to collections 34 days after it was opened? Doesn't it take 60 days to go to a CA?
