New, but been lurking for awhile. App spree info.

[ Edited ]

New to the forums, but I have been lurking for awhile, in the process of changing my spending habits to PIF the past few months. As well as taking on an auto loan, I got approved for Bankamericard cash rewards $1500 limit, Chase Freedom $500 (happy just to have it). Both in the past week. This on top of already having the amazon store card with 1000 limit and Barclay Apple Visa 2000 limit. Now it's time to settle in and get some gardening going. Mind you All of this on a 17k reported income and being a 22 year old student in college.

For reference at time of application I believe my scores around 650 and utilization was around 32% and i have a 30-30-60 late about 1 year and 2 months ago. Although CK shows 684. Waiting for CR to update to the new Barclay limit from 800 currently showing as well as reporting both new credits cards and payment of Amazon down to 0.

Thanks to this forum I found out about Recon-ing credit apps and that helped temendously. Thanks! and look forward to a mid-Seven hundred score in a couple years. :smileyhappy:

UPDATE: 6/10/12

So the app spree is just about done, I just figured I could get all I can so the account all age together.

So Results of the App spree All in the past month or so.

Chase Freedom - $500 $1500

Discover more - $1500

BoA Cash Rewards - $1500

Amex Zync - denied a month ago, now $500 auto pay

Amex BCE - Denied a month ago, didn't reapply.

Citi Dividend Platinum - Reconned, only denied for inquires, contacted Executive response unit, will find out

in a couple days, but wouldn't surpise me as another denial.

Now on to some serious gardening, I think the most addicting part of all this is the sign up bonuses. haha.

And utilization is only about 3% currently.

Thanks again to all though, thanks for this forum for educating me on all things credit.

Keep that util down and promise to never have a late pmt again, and you'll be WAY ahead of most of us at that age.

I hope not to. I even have started to amass a savings as a buffer and opened a small investment account. Trying to set myself up for a productive future.

Mass Savings = Emergency Fund and again, you are WAY head of most of us at that age.  I didn't amass my EF until 3-4 years ago.

Being debt free AND having an EF AND having a retirement fund(s) set-up is a VERY liberating feeling that you will come to understand and hopefully respect.  Do it now, so you don't have to work 5x as hard later as most of us have had to do.
