Non-reporting account payment

I was recently contacted by a collection company that I have dealt with before.   This conversation was in regards to a credit card account that no longer appears on any of my 3 credit reports.  I have, to my knowledge, never paid off this account.  I'm I still responsible for this account ?  Please Help!
