Re: Not quite: 10 year rule for closed account

2004-2008 Auto Loan dropping in 2017 along with my EX only Student loans...which have been on a wee bit longer than 10yrs. Sadness in 2017 as I had a Sears store card back in 1996 and I have no clue where or when it disappeared. Closed for inactivity I'm sure in 1997.

It's not a rule.

There's plenty of anecdotal evidence just on this site for closed accounts that fall off before 10 years.

Needless to say, aaoa dropped, and oldest account also moved up.

There's a good chance that AAoA can drop in such cases but it's not a given in all situations.  Impact to AAoA is going to depend on the number and age of accounts that one has and how the dropped account impacts one's AAoA.
