Not sure what this means

On my EX report, I have an account stating "Account legally paid in full for less than full balance".  I have never agreed to pay this account for less than full balance.  Also on my TU and EQ reports, this is reporting as a collection.  How do I proceed?

Thanks

Jon

What is the true status of this account?

Re: Not sure what this means

Can you give us the details of "this account"?

We need more info in order to answer your question properly.

In this crazy world of credit, nothing is obvious, and much is illogical, imo.

Re: Not sure what this means

I do know that this is my debt.  I was making monthly payments of what I could afford at the time, so I know that it was in collections.  I am not sure how they can state that it is paid, but not for the full amount, when I didn't sign anything stating that I would consider it PIF.  Why does it report differently on the different reports?

Re: Not sure what this means

if you did not pay in full and had made payments and they no longer requesting payment from you they settled for less than full amount owed--normally this is when someone makes the agreement to settle for lesser than whats due...
