OC/CA Clarification

If the OC sells/writes off debt, would their internal records show a zero balance owed to them?

Re: OC/CA Clarification

It depends. If you dispute the account and it comes back verified you have the right to request an internal investigation by the OC of the account. The results of this would then be sent to you.

Re: OC/CA Clarification

Friend disputed a written off account that has gone through several CA's and a suit has been filed(by a lawfirm working for the CA).  The account was opened fraudulently. She received a letter from the OC stating the account has a zero balance, however the CA/lawfirm state differently. What is accurate?

Re: OC/CA Clarification

If you DV the CA they are required to verify the info with the OC. If you have something from the CA stating that the account is PIF/$o Balance you can use this in court to dispute any information the lawyer brings to court. It is a little difficult to argue when your "client" gave your "victim" proof they don't owe them anything.

Re: OC/CA Clarification

The letter came from the OC not the CA stating zero balance. Is that what you meant when you wrote the above?

Re: OC/CA Clarification

Ok thanks.  I was just wondering if it would show zero since the account was sold.
