Oh No! Is it too late?

A collection company for a debt I owe called me in order to discuss the debt and I was so taken aback by how polite the guy was that I completely forgot that I am not to speak to collection agaencies by phone. I was so relieved to not have someone that was threatening that he now has my bank info and has set up three initial payments to repay the debt. Is it too late to send a PFD letter? The three payments I agreed to are only for about 1/3 of the balance due. I know, I know..stupid of me, but will the PFD letter still work?

Re: Oh No! Is it too late?

I would first call my bank & put stop payments on them.....After they start cashing checks they prob. will want more. Not only do you not talk to them on phone you do NOT give bank info on phone!!!!! to ANYONE.....One payment also starts SOL over.

Then I would send PFD...if accepted   send a cashier check & put on it( PIF and removal from credit report)

Re: Oh No! Is it too late?

Well I actually already called back and he was very willing to give me the correspondance address. My only concern is they were planning to use a 'dummy' check # can I still place a stop payment on that?

Re: Oh No! Is it too late?

I believe that the bank will go by the name on the check........I placed a stop payment on PayPal.....even though they did not have a check....I did it because they are known to remove money from peopeles bank accounts.......band asked me to give an amount....I did $500.00...was told that they bank would return all checks back under $500.00 or if over would contact me.
