One more PFD ?

How do you negotiate a PFD?  I always thought that if you paid it would just be listed as paid on your CR and then fall off after 7 years.  My husband has medical bills that went into collections when he was young and we paid them off, but they are still on the CR. Do you think we can call those that were paid a long time ago and have them removed even though it hasn't been 7 years??

Yes, but we call this a GW (Goodwill) letter since they have been paid already.  Do a search for GW letter and you will get examples.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not....but cant hurt!  PFD is used when you still need to pay an item. Theory being you have a little leverage on your side.

Yep, they will fall off at the 7 yrs time, but your score will continue to take that hit as if it were unpaid.

As mentioned, if fully paid, a PFD won't work. A GW might work. Another option is to send a DV letter to them. Answering that letter might lead to a deletion as it is bothersome to respond. If past 7 yrs, and paid, then dispute due to CRTP. Don't call them!
