Paying off and installment loan early?

I am wondering is it a wise idea to pay off whats left on my share secured loan in Sept?

There are various threads around here that basically say that an open installment loan helps your scores a bit.

Ok, I was wondering because I am trying to save up for a downpayment for a car and its hard to do when you is paying bills.

Chasing a score should never trump sound financial decisions (IMO, of course).  I say save the interested and pay off the loan.

Ok my current credit score is in the 600 range.
