Actually A friend of mine paid off a rather large CO (with a settlement check) with BoA and something similar happened... What could have happened is your internal score skyrocketed when your account was brought current... In fact when he was dealing with the banker.. They were like. We cant open an account for you, but come back in 30 days and with this settled out. you should be able to open an account with us... Didn't bother opening the account but did get a CC with them....
