Paying off credit cards..

I have read that paying off maxed (or close to maxed credit cards) increases your score by ALOT of points, which is what I need.  What is the time frame that your credit score will change after it has been done?  I've heard it takes a while.  Thanks.

Re: Paying off credit cards..

I would allow until the end of the month following the pay-downs...so if you pay down your CC today, you should see results by the end of January, and quite possibly sooner.

Typically it shows the next time the company reports after your payment has been applied ... so it could be 1 day it could be 30.  FICO comes up as soon as the lower balance comes in from the creditor.
