Should I DV two accounts that fall off in eight months?

I have two accounts that are with CAs, which are due to fall off in eight months. The balance on one is $6,700 and the other is $5,500. Should I send a DV and hope that they cannot verify that they can collect the debt or just wait it out? If I DV them what's the worst that can happen? Is there a good chance they will start harassing me by mail or phone? (even if I state in the DV not to contact me by phone) I can't re-live that nightmare again of the phone ringing.

Man, I hear you about the phone.  I have finally got to the point I can start answering mine again without dreading looking at the caller ID.  What a relief that is.  If it were me, I'd wait until they fall off to DV unless they start contacting you first.

Re: Should I DV two accounts that fall off in eight months?

I haven't heard from them in three maybe four years. I've moved around a bunch (different states) and my phone number isn't on my CRs. I ESPECIALLY don't want these scumbags calling my neighbors. I've had this happen before and it was soooooooo humiliating when my neighbor told me.

I need to buy a car next month and woudl like them to be removed so I can at least get a halfway decent APR, but if it's going to start up a bunch of trouble then I'd rather not.

Be aware that if you have left the state, in some states this can toll SOL. You may not be out of SOL yet.

Re: Should I DV two accounts that fall off in eight months?

Any idea where I can easily find this information without having to read through hundreds of pages of statutes?

All three states that I've lived in the past 10 years have a SOL of 3 years.

The SOL for the other states wouldn't matter if SOL is tolled when you leave the original state.

I *think* that they have to prove you left the state to avoid paying. Although, I do not know that.

Google "Tolling of statute of limitations in (state you first lived in)"     See what you come up with.

What does "toll SOL" mean?
