Should I ask that old or inaccurate items be removed

On my credit report there are old or inaccurate items. The items that are INCORRECT, I know to find out who to inquire of and then require that they be removed from my report. But are OLD  items hurging my report? Such as old, paid off mortageges, or (especially in he case of TransUnion, there is rarely any data that is entered (like paid as agreeed or whatever. There is only (for Transunion), NO DATA AVAILABLE.:

Aside from whether or not they are causing any harm you might want to consider that report data is also used for identity verification.

Whether they hurt or not all depends on the usual factors and how the specific accounts are factoring in versus your credit:

I'd suggest removing the incorrect items regardless of whether or not they're beneficial or harmful.
