Should I dispute b4 sending a PFD letter.

Hey guys, hope all is well... I would like to know if I should dispute an account before I send the letter out for a PFD or should I wait and try my luck with the letter first??

Thanks in advance.

Re: Should I dispute b4 sending a PFD letter.

Who would you be disputing with? If original creditor and you are not sure that you owe the money ask them to  provide complete history of all transactions on the account. If it is a collection agency send them a debt validation letter for full media validation. The purpose of this is not to dispute the account but to have them prove that they have right to collect on account. When the DV letter comes back send the pfd letter to whoever owns the account, either the oc or a junk debt buyer if account was sold.

Do a search on site for the DV and PFD letters.

Need a little more information.

DOFD? DOLA? SOL? Who owns the account, OC or CA?

Providing this will better help us to be able to answer your question.

Re: Should I dispute b4 sending a PFD letter.

Hey guys, well a CA has it now.. DOLA- 08/06, SOL- Not Sure (how can I find this info out?). In my state, DOFD- 12/06 deleted off my report in dec. 07 and reinserted 2/08. It is a medical bill that I believe is mines. How should I go about taking care of it?

7 years SOL doesn't sound right!    what state are you in?

If it is a CA reporting you send a DV  CMRRR and wait for an answer  then you can PFD.

You can also go to the OC if they still OWN the account and PFD them

Your SOL is 3 years!    you are confusing SOL with CRTP
