Yup, Real Page/LeasingDesk is a tenant screening company. (And count as a CRA in their own right, as well.)
Credit check when renting an apartment is pretty standard these days, has been for a while in my experience.
Inquiries are not limited only to credit.
If a consumer initiates a business transaction for which the transaction has a legitimate business purpose to review the consumer's credit history, then that business transaction gives the business a permissible purpose to pull your credit report.
Since leasing an apartment clearly could result in damages incurred to the property or fees associated with the rental, it is recognized as a legitimate business purpose.
In some cases, you may be able to get the inquiry re-coded as soft, which would not affect your credit scoring.
I was credit checked on an apartment back in '95 so it's standard for awhile now.

Maybe this is it, but really? Inquiry for renting an apartment?
Is there anything I can do?
Pretty standard, as stated above. Nothing you can do at this point as it's valid information. In future you can inquire if they perform a credit check but if you try to avoid it you'll severely limit your options.
