Strange Inquiry

I just noticed the following soft inquiry on my EX CR:

CREDIT COMMUNICATIONS SV 
14901 BOGLE DR

CHANTILLY VA 20151

Anybody have any idea what / who they are?  I don't think it could be a CA.

Looks like a tool creditors use for ID verification.  Alliant uses something similar.

It's an ID verification service that is used by Alliant and, I'd imagine, several other financial institutions.

I haven't applied for anything except for ajob with the federal govt.  I do see the company does employee screenings too.  Maybe that's what it is.

I'm pretty sure it is an ID verification service.  What I don't understand is why a creditor needs to perform a hard pull for the extension of credit plus a soft using this ID verification service.

Hi FullBird,

At the risk of being overly simplistic, why not drop them a letter to the address supplied and ask who they are and why they are nosing around in your credit file? I would think FCRA would require to respond.
