Student Loans 120+ late

I took a semester off of school before re enrolling in 2004. Upon graduating I learned that my student loans were brought out of deferment because it is a cumulative 6 months that you receive to make the payments, not a total of 6 months after graduation. The paperwork was being sent to my permanent address where my mother, who is not entirely with it financially, disregarded them. I have contacted AES to no avail about fixing this, as I have 4 student loans with multiple late reports. They refused. Can I contact my credit union about fixing this as they are the owner? What should I do???

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

I had a few lates on my student loans with PPSLC, I sent them a GW letter and had some success in getting them removed........apparently they have some policy in place that allows them to do a ONE-TIME courtesy removal.........I would try that approach.

Good luck

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

I called AES today and the guy was very sympathetic and tried to remove them and said the computer would not even allow it. He said that they have upgraded their systems and that GW's have been banned with them???? anyone know anything about this?

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

I haven't had any personal experience with it luckily, but I have heard that referenced a lot.  In terms of DoE related loans and SL's it's supposed to be pretty hard to impossible to get them to change anything.

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

I have a 180 day late from citi bank and can't get it removed. I have triied everything and had no luck at all. I plan on triing again in a few months. IF anyone finds away please email me with the information. I really hate this 180 days late. I guess it gone in 6 years I just have to wait it out.

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

So I found out through a different thread that if you consolidate the loans the originals are paid and are no longer under the HEA. I think once the consolidation goes through they will change them for me to actually report accurately, not their version of accurately. Smiley Happy

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

I've been paying student loans with SCSLC since Dec 2000 and have had several 30 day lates reported. They used to show up on my CR, but since I haven't missed a payment in almost two years they ended up just removing the lates without me asking.

Maybe they will do the same for you if you continue to make payments on time?

Re: Student Loans 120+ late

Please substantiate your claims regarding consumer information credit person name forwarded to credit bureaus for me, your name here, with regard to account

Since reporting problems may exist within the account record, I respectfully demand that American Agencies this notarized validation promptly. Additionally formally concur that you ad herd to all provisions of the Truth in lending act. This request is for more than just a summary one sheet. Instead this is a requisition for a full documentary review. If these requests cannot be met within the reasonable delineated period, account summaries disseminated by your company to the three credit reporting agencies should be deemed inaccurate and may bespeak an intention to willfully violate the fair credit reporting act. In that case, kindly recall such consumer information as soon as possible.

I remain appreciative regarding your attending to this circumstance.

Please remember I paid them over 79.00 a month for this letter for 1 year. So I could of and have already yelled at myself for this...........
