I have a concern, when you settle with an collection agency, what are the ramafications behind that?
I going to settle a debt that I owe a total of $1976.00 and I'm settling for $1,000.00. I know that it's probably not good, but do I have anything to worry about?
I heard from a friend that collections agency will send you a 10-99 at the end of the year. This will put you in a higher tax bracket.
HELP, HELP, HELP
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cory

I believe the amount needs to be $1200 for them to 1099 you- DONT QUOTE ME>

You also need in writing that is is full satisfaction of the debt - they can not sell, transfer, report etc to anyone.

Try to also have them put in it will be unverifiable.

you will get a 1099 form,  you wil have to pay taxes on it as it is considered income earned.   I don't know about the whole higher tax bracket thing .   They are only going to tax you on the $976.  I dont' think you are going to jump up that high

Maybe for a nominal fee, Tuscani can negotiate a reasonable PFD!:smileywink:

Honestly.. I would have offered $500. Why wouldn't they agree? Something is better than nothing. :smileyhappy:
