Think I did something bad HELP!!!!

Okay so if can remember a couple weeks I posted I was being sued.  I received papers from the court house admitting that it was my debt mine but don't have the money to pay.  So I got a letter from there lawyer thanking me for my cooperation.  The court house is far from where I live I called the court and they said they would send me my hearing date.  So now here is my questions, Should I called the lawyer and offer PFD?  Can I still DV them after admitting to the debt?  When/if I go to court  can I have the court ask for validation?  Can they do this past SOL?  How bad will a judgement hurt my scores?

If the debt is past SOL, you should state that in your answer to your summons. Bring it up at the court date.

How bad will a judgment hurt? I have no clue, but it is a MAJOR baddie.

As for DV'ing.............have no clue....

As for PFD'ing........you can negotiate with them before court to settle the matter..........personally, *I'd* worry more about getting it settled without a judgement then getting a PFD. But that is me.

if it's past sol i beleive you can use that as an affirmative defense. have you considered retaining an attorney? even if you have to go to court and request a continuance i highly recomend you get one.

Re: Think I did something bad HELP!!!!

can't you call the lawyer and ask him to postpone court if you make payment arrangement?  Have you checked SOL in your state.  depending on the amount owed would it be worth getting a lawyer?

Don't know where you are, but here where I live, you are allowed to call the courthouse and postpone once automatically approved.

Re: Think I did something bad HELP!!!!

The amount I owe is only $532 and I will pay it I don't have a problem with that my problem is if I go to court and agree they will place a judgement on my CR.  I live in Ct and I'm sure I can get it continued but what do I do from there?  Bring a DV letter asking them to validate?  Bring a PFD letter?  Will I be responsible for there fees when/if we end up in court?  Call the attorney since hes not to far from my house off a PFD but if they refuse will/can they use that against me?  I worked so hard to fix my credit and I now lose sleep for this one account.  What the heck can I do?

If you willing to pay and it's yours, call the CA and pay. My friend is being sued and they are negotiating right now, they keep counteroffering each other. However, she did go to court on a debt before and they gave her 30 days to pay before judgement issued. Someone said that is standard here, not sure about everywhere.
