I logged onto TU today to do an online dispute for an account that hasn't updated the balance since Sept 2010. I saw "I am Active Duty Military" on the list of possible reasons why it was wrong as an option to check.
What does this dispute reason mean? I ask becuase my husband is currently deployed overseas and I'm wondering if this is something he should've done or can still do? Does anyone on the forums know what this means or it's purpose is? TIA
I've never heard of an Active Duty Military Dispute. There is an AD Alert your husband can put on his credit reports.
Placing an AD alert minimizes the likelihood of identity theft while he is deployed or away from his normal duty station.
This is a provision in the FACT ACT. Here is a link

Yeah, it was listed with other dispute options, "balance isn't correct", "not my account", "I'm active duty military". I'd never seen that before. I wasn't sure if it was the same as the alert.
Thank you.
