What to do with two paid off Directv baddies?

I have two baddies that are showing up in my collections list. As soon as I saw they hit my report back in 2005 and 2007, I paid them off directly to DIRECTV and not the CA. I would like to have them removed from my CR, but was wondering what would be the best way to go about doing this.

TU EQ OC CA BAL DOFD
x x DIRECTV Allied Interstate $0 Aug-07
x x DIRECTV Allied Interstate $0 Aug-05

1. Should I call DIRECTV and ask them to contact TU and EQ and remove them since I paid them in full?

2. Should I mail or fax a GW to DIRECTV?

3. Should I send a GW to the CA and ask them to remove it from my CR since I had paid DIRECTV?

4. Should I DV and ask them to provide proof of my contract? Regarding the one in 2007...I could have sworn when I signed up it was only for one year, but after I cancelled they came back and said the agreement was for two years because I got two DVRs from them (WHICH I HAD TO PAY $100 EACH FOR) when I started my account in 2006. The ironic thing is the main reason I was so unhappy was because those junky boxes are a usability nightmare (the menu/guide made me want to pull my hair out). I now have TiVo again. Smiley Happy

Re: What to do with two paid off Directv baddies?

My understanding (as little as it may be) is that if you paid the OC directly, then the CA has no basis to report it themselves.  The only one that should be able to report on it would be DirecTV.  I would DV the CA and dispute through the CRAs.  Watch out for Allied, I've heard they are one of the nastier ones to false report and screw with people.

Re: What to do with two paid off Directv baddies?

Should I just contact EX and TU and say that I had paid DIRECTV before it went to collections? It's showing that the term was one month on both of them so that should be good enough for proof?

If so, would it be better to give them a call, send a fax, or send a letter in the mail?

Re: What to do with two paid off Directv baddies?

Basically, my understanding is they can't report a duplicate, which is what this pretty much is.  If you paid DirecTV, they should have informed the CA that there was no debt left to collect, so the CA should remove their listing.  DV the CA, then dispute with the CRAs.  Something simple like "account not mine" should work.  You might call the OC directly, though, and let them know about the CA.  Maybe they can handle it for you themselves.

Re: What to do with two paid off Directv baddies?

They are actually from two different Directv accounts.

When I submitted payment to Directv back in June, I asked them if they would remove it from my CR. They said they wouldn't be able to remove them since they weren't the ones who posted it on my CR (which is a lie).

Would it be better to tell the CRAs that the balance was paid in full directly to the OC since they would probably just come back as being validated if I say they're not mine?

Re: What to do with two paid off Directv baddies?

I would DV the CA first then call DirecTV again.  They can say they weren't the ones who put it on there, but they are the ones who hired the CA and are responsible for letting the CA know the debt was paid to them.
