Better to have to pay, than to give them an interest-free loan for a year. Think about THE IRS. They look at your money, like it's THEIRS--thus THE IRS.

Yes, I know - we try to break about even with the IRS, and have always ended up with a small to middling refund. After 18 years of never paying extra in April, seeing that big red $2770 in TurboTax was a shock that I'm just now starting to get over. Especially since I'm in aggressive paydown mode, and that $$ would have meant another 20% reduction in CC debt. Grrrr indeed.
