Where to find legal counsel?

I don't want to ask for legal advice in the forums, even though I know you folks are extremely smart and knowledgable. Smiley Happy

(For background, the issue I'm dealing with is this one: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/Family-member-maxed-my-CC-without-my-knowledg...)

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can go for free legal counsel on this situation, re: SOL, fraud, etc? (Reputable nonprofit, please--I can't afford my own lawyer.)

Or can anyone recommend the criteria I should use in finding an organization? All of my Googling is turning up sketchy-looking groups.

It might be called diferent things in different parts of the country but here locally (Texas) you can look in the phone book for Legal Aid for a list of attorneys who at least have a free initial consultation from what I understand.

I hope you find what you're looking for.

What state are you in?  How much did the CC company charge off?  And when was the last activity she made on the card?
