Before finding out about this place (which has been GREAT) my wife paid an account that was in collections for less than the full amount. Is there a letter that can be sent to have it removed since it will not come off until 2012 or do we send in a PFD for the remaining amount?

You can try a GW letter first, and then try the PFD letter for the remaining balance.
