Will joining Credit Counseling DMP effect my FICO rating?

I am considering joning credit counselling agency for DMP. Wanted know how will this show up on my report, and will it effect my rating?

My wife went through a program and accounts in the program are indicated on her reports.  Don't know what her FICO's are but AmEx cited them as a reason for denial about a year or two ago.  Chase approved her at that time.  Since then AmEx has approved her as well.

It's a YMMV type of thing.  Me personally?  Spiraled me into credit hell that I didn't think I could recover from.  I'd been so much better not doing it.  It's what tanked my scores, reports, caused immediate COs and collections.
